Miranda Beaupre, of “Made By Miranda”, is originally from Washington state, and moved to Alaska in 2016. Miranda’s grandmother first introduced her to crafting. As a child she enjoyed painting and decorating birdhouses, her hometown was a small mountain town where there wasn’t much to do.
At Made By Miranda, you can expect honesty and originality. “Although other artists inspire me, I like to keep my own style. I like to think about nature and my hometown when I’m crafting a lot of the time. The trees and mountains speak to me,” Miranda says. Miranda always maintains communication with her customers throughout the design process, to ensure they receive what they want. Miranda describes her first success as “the first custom order I completed. When I get customs, I design them myself.” She received her first custom order soon after opening her business and remembers feeling nervous and anxious. After some research and lots of work hours, she finished. “I felt so accomplished. When I showed my customer, she loved it and my heart filled with joy,” Miranda says.
Miranda says, “Most of my advertising is word of mouth. I talk about my shop and wear at least one piece of my own jewelry a day.” She also advertises her wire wrapped jewelry on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Miranda includes business cards and stickers in her orders, to encourage repeat orders.
A tip from Miranda to beginners: “Don’t be afraid to reach out to other artists for advice. The artist community, especially on Twitter, is so close. Also, stay original. Create for yourself, not for the sales and you will find that being an artist is one of the most fulfilling lines of “work” you could ever do!”
